FAQ about return and investments

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about returns and investments on our platform. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always contact our customer service.

  • We recommend that you spread your capital among at least 100-200 different loans. Our yield robot has 1 EUR as the minimum deposit per investment. Therefore, we recommend to initially deposit at least 200 EUR.

  • Investing in SaveLend happens automatically after you choose a strategy. Check that strategy is enabled on your depot by logging in and navigating to "Strategy" for your selected depot.
  • What investment ratio will you as an investor receive depends on several different factors, but it is usually between 90% and 95%.

Remember that if you have just created your account or made a larger deposit, it can take a couple of days for your capital to get invested.

SaveLend's ambition is to have all your capital invested in credits.
  • Your deposited capital is invested when our connected lending companies issue new loans and publish them on our platform. This means that you do not receive investments immediately and it can take a couple of days before all your capital is invested in loans, depending on how much you’ve deposited.

It is also important to ensure that your strategy is not paused.

  • At SaveLend, all investments are made with the help of our interest robot. Check that your strategy is activated on your depot.

If you have a Freedom strategy, it may also be that you have a higher investment rate compared to the average, which is why other investors with a lower investment rate will be prioritized until the investment rate evens out.

  • SaveLend's goal is for all investors to have approximately the same proportion of their capital invested in loans. Our ambition is for the majority of each investor's capital to be lent, but here are some common reasons why you may get a lower investment grade:

    * You have just invested new capital, which has therefore not had time to be put to work yet
    * For the Freedom strategy: your settings are too narrow; check that not too many lenders/originators are deactivated or that the "Share [%] of my total capital per investment" is not set too low.

If you still think your investment ratio is too low, you are welcome to contact customer service and we will help you by taking a closer look at your investments.

  • You can easily and conveniently choose how you want your capital to be invested for the Freedom strategy. By configuring your strategy settings, you can choose to only activate the loan types or loan companies that meet your goals.

Although, keep in mind that this can affect your overall investment ratio and your total return.

  • On SaveLend's platform, there are many different loan types and lending companies, meaning that there are many different ways in which the loans are repaid. Depending on the terms, the loan could, for example, be repaid in a lump sum on the date of maturity, or in smaller amounts monthly.

In some cases, a borrower may also have difficulties repaying their loan on the due date. The process in these cases varies depending on the loan and lending company. To summarize, the borrower has one or several opportunities to repay and thereby return to the payment plan. If the borrower is unable to pay, the loan can instead, for example, be sold to a debt collection company.

  • For Swedish individuals, the tax is automatically deducted when receiving interest on an investment. The tax is reported and transferred to the Swedish Tax Agency by current rules and appears on the tax return like with other taxes. The return is taxed as income and is estimated at 30%.

For investors outside of Sweden, tax is not drawn automatically. You will in these cases need to report the earned interest to your respective tax authority.

  • Our previous return model has been updated on 2022-05-17.

The previous calculation model for average return was based on actual return in relation to total capital, without weighing maturities or when credits start to return. For this reason, we have chosen to update our calculation model to a version that takes into account volume-weighted delay. By adding this delay, which takes into account the number of days it takes on average before an investment begins to pay off, a result is achieved that also takes into account the growth of capital on the savings platform.

  • With SaveLend, your return is the interest borrowers pay on the loans you invest in. We have three savings strategies for SEK depots that have different target returns.

Balanced is a savings strategy for you who want to minimize the risk of credit losses and have maximum liquidity in your savings. This strategy has a slightly lower target annual return and suits you who have a shorter savings horizon.

Yield is the savings strategy for you who aim for a higher return and who understand that this entails slightly higher risk and greater fluctuations in savings.

With the Freedom strategy, you can choose both the originator and the credit type and decide how much of your total capital can be placed in a single investment and get a higher or lower return depending on the settings.

Also keep in mind that SaveLend's target return is after credit losses and fees, but before tax.

It is also important to compare the right things; usually, we communicate the figure "return on invested capital" which, for example, does not take into account uninvested capital because the investment rate depends on strategies.

  • With SaveLend, your return is the interest borrowers pay on the loans you invest in. SaveLend has three different savings strategies for SEK depots that have different target returns: Balanced, Yield and Freedom. Depending on the savings strategy, our yield robot invests capital in different loans.

A Balanced savings strategy has a slightly lower target annual return but has a shorter savings horizon.

Yield is the savings strategy that involves a slightly higher risk and greater fluctuations in savings.

With the Freedom strategy, you can choose originators as well as, for example, loan type and decide what percentage of the total capital can be placed in an individual investment and get a higher or lower return.
  • There are several different scenarios as to why a loan is not repaid by a borrower. In some cases, there is a buyback clause and the investment is repurchased. In other cases, the investment is transferred to a debt collection process.

The debt collection can in certain instances, unfortunately, be slow and might go through many phases. Therefore, it is difficult to accurately predict how long it will take for a specific loan.

  • A good way to increase your investment rate is to choose a strategy with higher risk and return. The Balanced and Yield savings strategies have automatic settings that you cannot control, but for the Freedom strategy you can choose both the originator and, for example, the type of loan and decide what percentage of the total capital can be placed in a single investment and get a higher or lower return.

  • Different loan types have different terms. If you click on the "Loan types" link under the strategy, you will be able to see which terms the different loan types provide.
  • This setting controls how much of your total capital you want our yield robot to invest in an individual investment.

If you have 500 EUR in your SaveLend depot and you choose to invest 1% of your capital per investment, you will then invest a maximum of 5 EUR (1% out of 500)  in a single investment for the selected lending company. Remember that this is not a guarantee that this will always be the case as it’s only a maximum limit.

  • Yes, you can. Please send in your KYC for companies here: https://kyc.savelend.se/

  • If you do not want to wait for the loan you have invested in to be repaid before you withdraw your money, you can sell the loan on the secondary market.

You can find the secondary market under "Holdings". Remember that sales on the secondary market come with a fee, except for special conditions for the Balanced savings strategy. Here, you have the right to sell investments up to a total of SEK 50,000 free of charge after each twelve-month period.

  • The process can, unfortunately, be slow and might go through many phases; therefore, it is very difficult to accurately predict how long it will take.
  • On SaveLend's platform, there are different loan types and lending companies. This means that there are many different ways in which the corresponding investments are repaid. With that being said, it is common for the repayment on a loan to either be repaid in a lump sum on the final due date, or on an ongoing monthly basis.
  • It varies from case to case, depending on the loan type and/or lending company. For example, for consumer loans via the lending company SBL Finance, it is common to only be exposed to one investment per borrower, but for factoring from the same lending company, the same borrowing company can use the service several times. In general, it depends on the underlying securities of each specific loan.
  • Today you can invest in SaveLend's subsidiary Svensk Kreditförmedling's real estate and rental projects on our savings platform. These credits were previously mediated through the originator SKF but will, in the future, be mediated through SBL Finans. This type of financing is now called crowdfunding. To comply with the new EU regulations regarding crowdfunding, SaveLend is obliged to ensure that everyone who participates in these investments has certain knowledge within it. Therefore you need to complete a knowledge test on our platform before you start investing in crowdfunding.

When you activate the strategy the test will appear.

Your previous investments made through the originator SKF will continue as usual as the new EU regulations rules do not apply to previously mediated credits.

  • To comply with the new EU regulations regarding crowdfunding, SaveLend is obliged to ensure that everyone who participates in these investments has certain knowledge in this field. Therefore, you must complete a knowledge test on our platform before starting to invest in crowdfunding. The questions are developed based on the EU's requirements for what information we must receive.

If you do not complete the test, you will not be able to activate the Balanced or Yield strategies. In this case, you can activate the Freedom strategy without the possibility of investing in real estate and rental projects.

  • You can still choose to go ahead and activate a strategy. SaveLend has an obligation to inform and assist you in assessing the suitability of this type of investment, but the decision to invest is yours.

FAQ about fees

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about fees on our platform. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always contact our customer service.

Keep in mind that the bonus level you adhere to is updated monthly as we receive updated information on invested capital and our shareholders. Note that only directly owned shares count towards the bonus levels.

FAQ about risks and credit losses

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about risks and credit losses. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always contact our customer service.

  • Investments always involve some level of risk. One risk when investing in loans is, for example, that the borrower of a loan that you invested in, does not have the ability to repay their debt, which in some cases leads to a credit loss.

Remember that each loan type on our platform has an associated target interest rate that shows the expected return after credit losses and fees. Additionally, we work actively to reduce each investor's total exposure to loans that are not repaid by constantly developing our yield robot. This way, the capital invested is spread over several different loan types, thereby reducing each investor's share of the credit loss from a single loan.

Read more about the risks involved in investing on our risk page.
  • Use the guide below to declare your credit losses:
    1. Log in to the platform, click on "My Account" at the top right followed by "Reports"
    2. Select "Annual Report 2022" in the list and then click on "Export".
    3. The amount you see on the line marked “Credit losses” paste it into your tax return on form K4, section D (under the heading: "Sale of securities - Other securities, commodities, other assets (capital investments, etc.))

As tax differs between countries we recommend that you contact your local representative, we do not provide advice on tax.

  • All investing comes with some form of risk. Read more about security and risks associated with investments in general and SaveLend in particular on our page "Security and risks".

    Security and risks
  • If, against all odds, SaveLend goes bankrupt, there are several safety measures for you as an investor, including:

SaveLend has permission via the Financial Supervisory Authority and it follows that it is the Financial Supervisory Authority that exercises supervision that SaveLend complies with the applicable rules and regulations. This takes place, among other things, through continuous reporting.

SaveLend has an independent internal auditor who ensures that the company has implemented routines and processes to ensure that we comply with applicable regulations.

SaveLend has a risk framework where the company's risks are managed and monitored continuously. This means that the risks would be flagged in good time before circumstances that could lead to bankruptcy could arise, and that measures to prevent this could be taken immediately.

SaveLend has an independent Risk function that reviews and follows up on the company's risk framework.

SaveLend has an authorized auditor who reviews the financial reports and follow-ups, to be able to take measures in good time if necessary.

You as an investor own the right of claim in the invested credit, not SaveLend. This means that you have the opportunity to get your investments back from the lender directly.

Read more about various securities and risks linked to investments in general and SaveLend in general on our page, "Security and risks".

    Security and risks
  • If you use strategy, the risk of losing all your capital is almost non-existent.

Read more about security and risks associated with investments in general and with SaveLend on our page, "Security and risks".

    Security and risks
  • We have improved the options for you who invest in consumer credits by dividing SBL Finans Consumer loans into two parts. One credit type to maximize your return and one to protect you against credit losses. SBL Finans Consumer loans 80% has an interest rate of 15% and a buy-back agreement for overdue credits of 80% of the nominal amount. This creates an investment opportunity with high returns at a slightly higher risk.

SBL Finans Consumer loans 100% has an interest rate of 8.5% and a buy-back agreement that gives you the right to sell overdue credits at 100% of their nominal value. Through this credit type, we create an investment opportunity for those who want to ensure not to suffer from credit losses.

You can choose to invest in the repurchased credits again through the credit intermediary Billecta debt collection; after the due loans have been added to a portfolio and valued according to a model that takes future cash flow into account.

Bundling many loans in one portfolio makes it more likely to reach the expected return on investment as overdue consumer loans can take a very long time to collect, and some never are paid.

This handling contributes to further diversification. SaveLend believes that this is the most transparent and clear approach to giving a correct view of credit losses.

Investing in loans is always compatible with the risk of credit losses. Previously, credit losses were presented first after debt collection, which led to the misunderstanding that credit losses did not exist.

With the new way, capital is released to be reinvested and continues to generate returns instead of being locked over a long period. Worth remembering in regard to this is that credit losses are deductible on the tax return.

It is also important to point out that SaveLend does not receive any income from repurchasing these loans.

FAQ about the secondary market

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about our secondary market. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always contact our customer service.

  • Once logged in to your account, navigate to "Holdings" -> "Loans". Use the filter to only show the investments you want to sell and mark these using the checkboxes. Click "Sell selected investments" on the screen and follow the instructions.

Keep in mind that sales on the secondary market include a 5% fee and that your investments are not sold directly; it may take a day or two for your investment to be bought by other investors.

For the Balanced strategy, you also have the right to sell investments free of charge up to a total of SEK 50,000 after each twelve-month period.

  • You can easily buy other people's investments on the secondary market if you use the Freedom strategy by checking the setting called "Invest in secondary market" for each type of credit you are interested in.
  • No. It is currently not possible to sell any loans that do not perform as intended, meaning the quality of investments you buy on the secondary market is comparable to new loans via strategy.

Other questions

Here are some other questions and answers. If you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always contact our customer service.

  • If you have non-invested money in your SaveLend account, you can notify customer service that you want to close your account. If you have active investments, you must either sell them on the secondary market, which includes a fee or wait for the investments to be repaid before the account can be closed.
  • Buyback (forward flow) is a process in which a loan that has turned bad (the borrower is unable to repay it) is sold to a debt collection company. As an investor, you will be repaid the full amount or parts of the amount you originally invested. This way your capital can be reinvested directly in new loans, instead of having to wait for a long debt collection process.
  • In strategy, under each loan type, you can easily and conveniently see which lending company has the resale agreement/buyback.

    2. Kopiera beloppet för kreditförluster

Du hittar andrahandsmarknaden under "Mitt innehav".

  • Ja, skicka in din KYC för företag här: https://kyc.savelend.se/
